Roast Level - Medium
Coarse grind
Use for French press or Italian percolator brewing. The large grounds sit in hot water for 4–5 minutes, and the coarse grind helps prevent over-extraction.
Medium grind
Use for drip, pour-over, or Chemex brewing. These methods use gravity to brew coffee slowly over a few minutes, so a medium grind is best.
Fine grind
Use for espresso. Espresso is brewed quickly with high pressure water, so a fine grind with lots of surface area is needed.
